Since the coming into power of this present goverment, security of lives and property has been a thing which people of Nigeria and the world have been complaining about.
The prolonged Plateau mayhem, closure of schools in some states in the North due to Kidnapping of students have besmeared Nigeria's image.
The fight against Boko Haram, banditry and kidnapping has been prolonged because the insurgents are getting more intelligence reports than the military.
The arms of military are advised to synergize with the Department of State Services and the police to gather the much- needed intelligence that could help tackle the rising wave of insecurity across the country.
In the past months, Plateau State has become tarnished and stained with bloodshed. Violence recurs at a dizzying pace. Not only in Plateau, Benue, Zamfara, Kaduna and Taraba recorded the highest attacks.
Many schools expecially the boardings have been closed down due to increase attacks of kidnappers on schools who abduct school children enmasse and later request for the payment of billions of Nigeria as ransom from parents, school owners and governments.
The security situations in the six geo- political zones are different and one major factor responsible for the spate of insecurity is the collapse of intelligence gathering. There is no real collaboration among all the security agencies; where as the Boko Haram insurgents, armed herdsmen, insurgents and kidnappers have become more savvy in intelligence gathering than the military.
That is why they are succeeding. There should be a serious engagement amongst the segments of the military, the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police for us to effectively tackle the security challenges.
Once that intelligence gathering channel is established. I am convinced that we would be able to address this challenge.
I want to commend the President so far. However, he must rise to tackle the wave of insecurity across the country.
