"Declare Bandits As Terrorist. They Don't Deserve Mercy. They Shouldn't Live" -Gov El-Rufai Tells FG

6The executive governor of Kaduna State Gov Nasir El-Rufai, has called on the Federal Government to declare bandits as terrorists or insurgents to enable the Nigerian military deal with them accordingly.

The governor who spoke at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna yesterday haven't received the security report for third quarter from the commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said declaring bandits in the Northwest region of the country as terrorists or insurgents would enable the Nigerian military to kill them (the bandits) without fear of consequences in the international law.

El-Rufai advised that the federal government should recruit 1,000 able youths each from all the 774 local government areas of the country, to deal a deadly blow to bandits and any other criminal elements in the country.

The former minister of FCT supported the resolution of National Assembly that bandits be declare terrorists.

The Gov said in 2017, his government wrote letters to the FG, asking that bandits be proscribed as that is the only way Nigerian military can deal decisively with them. “Bandits don’t deserve mercy and they should not be allowed to live,” he said.⁣

Governor El-Rufai said in Kaduna State, bandits have killed about 343 persons, 830 persons abducted and about 210 persons injured within the third quarter of the year.
