Starting from tomorrow to the 23rd of December, the Nigerian army will be participating in a joint exercise with the Nigerian Navy and Air Force code-named "OPERATION STILL WATERS". The exercise will dovetail into a real-time operation aimed at enhancing troops’ level of preparedness in curbing security challenges prevalent within their area of responsibility. Security challenges such as banditry, kidnapping will be addressed during the exercise.

According to Punch, the COAS, will perform the flag-off of Exercises Golden Dawn, Enduring Peace, and Still Water nationwide at Ovie-Emene, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State. The exercise as stated above is to prepare the army against any insecurity in the country which includes violent agitation. Although, Nigeria is faced with different insecurity problems across the country such as bandits, ESN, and Bokoharam Insurgents.
However, the military is already at the war front fighting against insurgency in the North East and at the same time carrying out military offensive on bandits in the North West States of Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto. But there are no tangible military operations against violent agitators in the South East, those that have killed and destroyed the properties of people in the zone in the name of agitation.
Since the military exercise will be real as well, the military should work toward fishing out the perpetrators of evil agitation in the zone by investigating their sponsors and collaborators. This year alone hoodlums in the South East have attacked a lot of off-road security operatives, their offices, and formations, not to talk of critical infrastructures and private properties. Despite different arrests and confessions by arrested ESN members, the attacks continued to increase. According to different sources, they were behind the attack on the DSS office, FRSC, and Police Area command in Nnewi, Anambra State on Sunday. The operation still water by the army could end the violent agitation perpetrated by this group.
