In the wake of a statement purported to have been uttered by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Robert Clark, that the current Buhari-led political administration in Nigeria should hand over the reins of government to the military owing to the myriads of problems being faced by the country, to which the government of the day has not been able to proffer any meaningful solution, the Nigerian Army has however dissociated itself from such anti-democratic school of thought.
The Nigerian Army which made its positions clear on the issue through its spokesman, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu stated that the army is fully committed to democratic rule in the country and further registered the unflinching supports and loyalty of the body to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Nwachukwu also went further to educate all military personnel on the gravity of punishment awaiting any officer found conniving with others to perpetrate such an act of illegality.
He also warned all misguided politicians who nurse the ambition of reaching the corridors of power by attempting to scuttle the hard-earned democracy in the country to steer clear of the military while contemplating such inordinate ambition, as the Nigerian army is focused on protecting the country's democracy, maintenance of Nigeria's territorial sovereignty and protecting lives and properties of citizens of the country.
What is your opinion on this position of the Nigerian Army? Kindly input invaluable your comment below. Thanks.
