Strain streams as heavy downpour wrecks havoc in Gombe city, killing two and destroying houses and properties. The rainfall which began at about 6:00 am has left many residents of Dawaki and Shamaki areas of Gombe seriously affected.
Addressing the media, a resident states the rainfall started at exactly early in the Morning and lasted for hours, with a lot of victims and areas being affected as the result of the heavy disaster.
He said; "We were about preparing to pray at exactly about 6:00 am when the rain started to fall heavily with too much of breeze. At first, it was raining normally before it gets serious minutes later. It rained lasting for hours, and we could see houses with no roofs."
"We are so sad about the lost lives and wasted properties. Hundreds of victims suffered a huge loss, you can see everything destroyed here and there. Lots of animals have been cleared away by the flood."
The Governor of Gombe State, Alh. Inuwa Yahya, has meanwhile, expressed his condolences to the victims affected by the incident, and to the families of those who lost their lives. And as well, to those whose properties were destroyed.
