Saudi Arabia is one of the countries of the world, that practice monarchical system of government. The King of Saudi Arabia is the an absolute monarch, who serves as the head of government and head of state. He is the head of the house of Saud, I.e the Saudi Arabia Royal Family.The Saudi King is known as the custodian of the two holy mosques namely the Al-masjid an-Nabawi in Medina and the Masjid al Haram in Mecca.

King Abdulaziz is known as ibn saud in the west. He began conquering the present Saudi Arabia in the year 1902, by restoring his family as the emirs of Riyadh. He subsequently conquered Nejd and Hejaz in 1922 and 1925 respectively.

King Abdulaziz declared his dominion as the Sultanate of Nejd in the year 1921, shortly prior to the conquest of the region. Ibn was proclaimed King Malik of Hejaz in the year 1926, and was eventually raised Nejd to a Kingdom also in 1927. For the period of five years, Ibn Saud controlled the two parts of his realm as separate units. In the year 1932, he officially brought together his territory into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia is one of the countries ruled by the Islamic law, known as Sharia.
