Dividends of Gana's Death: Taraba Governor Urge People who Fled Tiv/Jukun Crisis to Return

Dividends of Gana's Death: Taraba Governor Urge People who Fled Tiv/Jukun Crisis to Return.

Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku has called on residents of Chonku village in Wukari Local Government Area who fled their homes due to the crisis between the Tivs and Jukun to return.

The Governor made the call while laying the foundation for a Military and police base at the villga today, Thursday, the 24th of September 2020.

He said the officers at the base will provide residents security and urged them to return.

Chonku, a border community between Taraba and Benue State was sacked due to the crisis between the two neighbors, Tiv and Jukun.

Residents fled to Wukari while others relocated to other parts of the State.

The call on residents to return might also be connected with the recent killing of a notorious militia leader, Terwase Agwaza otherwise known as Gana.

The Jukun had alleged that Gana led attacks on them in their communities.

When he was killed, the whole Wukari was agog with celebration.

Gana was a menace to communities in Benue aswell as Taraba, especially Wukari. His death may have ushered in a new era of peace and the people will certainly reap the dividends.
