Reason Why I Support The Reintegration Of 602 Repentant Boko Haram Members (Opinion)

The Bitter Truth About The Reintegration Of 602 Repentant Boko Haram Members (Opinion)

It is no longer a news that, 602 repentant Boko Haram members have denounced their membership of the terrorist group, and swore Oath of Allegiance to Nigeria.

The denunciation followed months of participation in Operation Safe Corridor, a multi-agency humanitarian effort, led by Defence Headquarters, that was launched in 2016 to encourage Boko Haram terrorists to surrender.

However, the reintegration of the ex Boko Haram members have generated a lot of reactions among Nigerians, as many people are against the decision considering the gravity of the crime they have committed against the country. But the bitter truth is, rather than loosing/risking the lives of Nigerian soldiers to confront terrorists, it's better to reintegrate them so as to get them out of crime, and also safe lives who might be affected by the activities of these terrorists. We have to learn to forgive does who have offended us, so as to give room for others to deceit from their wrong doings.

The reintegration of Boko Haram members is a welcome development, which should be celebrated by Nigerians. Yes, they have sinned but the question is should we allow them to continue to sin?? We are sinners in one way or another, and are in need of forgiveness. Repaying evil with evil will only create more problems to the country.

Making Peace with them is better than been on an war with them, a war that we are not even certain we will be victorious at the end of the day. Not each of this terrorist chose to be a terrorist, nobody is born a criminal. They are also human being like you and I, some of them were innocently lured into the world of crime.

What do you think the reintegration of ex Boko Haram members back to the society?? Please don't forget to drop your comments.
