Report coming in from katsina is that about 18 members of the Nigeria Army were killed during an ambush by some armed bandits.
They were said to have been attacked during an advance movement on foot to Dangote, the notorious bandit leader’s camp in Shimfida when they were waylaid by the bandits from the hill.
Reports have it that Kastina State alone has experienced a series of attacks with over 300 deaths this year alone usually by suspected bandits.
This is really sad and more painful because these soldiers are dying in vain as there seems to be little or no improvement in this long fight against terrorism.
They need not have died this way if proper measures were taken.
If we are unable to tackle insurgency happening within the country, what if other countries wage war on us, how do we cope?
The tactics being used to fight this insurgency is obviously not working and I think it's high time the Government goes back to the drawing board. This killing can be avoided!
