According to DAILY POST,during the dark hours of Wednesday night,10th May 2023,another deadly attack was perpetrated by heavily armed individuals suspected to be Fulani militias,who invaded the Runji (Sankwab) village, Atyap Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area LGA of Kaduna state, disrupted the sleep of many and brutally murdered a defenseless woman.
Following the information obtained by local news reporters,it was verified that this is the third manslaughter carried out by the above-mentioned assailants in a period of three weeks,after the first attack launched claimed the lives of no less than 33 villagers and caused the destruction of no less than 40 houses,which were set ablaze by the invaders.
When contacted,a survivor from the targeted community disclosed to local news reporters that, properties worth lots of money were reduced to ashes in the ravaging inferno set by the bloodthirsty assailants, including the Baptist Church in the neighbourhood was completely ruined during the tragic occurrence.
The anonymous source claimed that, “the attackers came to the village in their numbers to carry out their mission but for the quick intervention of the military personnel, the situation was brought under control and as l am talking to you, a search is ongoing to ascertain the number of casualties suffered in the area".
Speaking further,the villager lamented over the fact that innocent children were also killed in front of their parents as many other victims watched their loved ones die right before their eyes as the attackers showed no mercy in executing their nefarious plans.
"I just don't know who would save us, because it's clear and obvious that the government has been able to handle these criminals for a very long time till date,despite appeals from dying masses for protection from their evil schemes",he affirmed.
In the meantime,he was still left with no choice but to urge the federal and state governments of Kaduna not to sit and watch them the enemies take control of the region especially Atyap land,adding that new and effective strategies should be put in place to counter the plans of the Fulani militias before more lives and properties would be lost amidst this unending bloodlust.
