‘I owe you nothing’, Tinubu tells Wike

According to Vanguardngr. During the inauguration of the Rumuokuta Flyover in Port Harcourt, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State asked President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu for refunds on federal projects undertaken by states of the federation.

In response, Tinubu told Wike that he owed him nothing, but that he would need to lobby to collect.

Wike had justified his request by pointing out that the state's procurement laws made it difficult to complete projects quickly and that amending the laws allowed the state to pay 70% to companies capable of delivering projects within a specified time frame.

He cited completed projects by Julius Berger, including the dualisation of Ahoada to Omoku to Egbema and the East West road to Degema Junction, as evidence of the success of this approach.

Wike also requested that the Federal Government refund the money the state had spent on federal roads.

Tinubu commended Wike for his efforts and the completion of major projects in the state.

He also praised Wike's character and integrity, describing him as a man of principle who championed justice and unity.

Tinubu said his visit to Rivers State was a promise kept, and he was happy to have established a relationship with Wike.

The inauguration of the Rumuokuta Flyover served as a way to build bridges across Nigeria, and Tinubu expressed excitement and optimism about the future of the state and the country.
