Chelsea halted their two-match winless run when they hosted Southampton at the Stamford bridge staduim on Saturday evening.
The blues took an early lead through Trevor Chalobah's header bit were pegged back after James Ward prowse converted a penalty for his side. James Ward Prowse was then given his marching orders after a clumsy tackle on Italian midfielder Jorginho with the blues then going on to win the match 3-1 after late goals from Timo Werner and Ben Chilwell.
3) James Ward Prowse Red Card
Many might argue with me on this, but it is a fact that Southampton looked likely to secure themselves a point in the game against Chelsea until James Ward Prowse was shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Jorginho.
That red card distorted Southampton setup and shape which ultimately led to a late collapse from the Saints who depended heavily on their captain to win the ball in the middle of the park.
2) Thomas Tuchel's tactics
One thing Thomas Tuchel has proved time and again at Chelsea is that he is one of the best tacticians in the world.
The German coach is known for his insane ability to read games and make impactful changes and he once more proved that to be true against Southampton. The 47 year old got all his substitutions spot on in the game which ultimately played a huge part in his side's ability to grind out all 3 points in the game.
1) Timo Werner's fighting spirit
Timo Werner is one player who have come under a lot of scrunity at Chelsea in recent years.. The German attacker have endured a time so far at Chelsea with his finishing ability often being called into question at every given opportunity.
However, the German striker has shown character to always pick up himself after every fall. And there was a display of that spirited attitude in the 3-1 win against Southampton as the forward kept on trying despite being unfairly denied a goal by VAR in the first half as he scored the all important winning goal in the 84th minute of the game. It's good to see this man back amongst the goals.
