Sin is a very serious entity that causes separation between God and man. God is holy He also expected those that workshops Him to do so in holiness. But, human nature is embedded in sinfulness as such, the Lord Jesus Christ came and saved all human beings from the power of sinfulness. There are situations where the silence of God to some prayers being prayed by some believers could make them think God had not forgiven them their already confessed sins.
Joel Osteen has shed more light on this that, believers that have already been in the presence of God for the forgiveness of their sins must not go through life beating themselves up, thinking about everything they have done wrong, or dwelling on their mistakes. The moment you asked God to forgive you, he has already forgiven you.
