"Ayu May Resign, PDP Changed Its National Chairman After Goodluck Became its Flag bearer" -Otitoju

Babajide Otitoju has recalled an incident that occurred after Goodluck Jonathan emerged as the presidential candidate of the PDP. The investigative journalist recalled the event while stating that the national chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, may have to vacate his position as national chairman.
Addressing the topic, Babajide said, "I know that, by tradition, the presidential candidate and the party chairman of the PDP do not emerge from the same region." I recall that when Goodluck Jonathan emerged as the presidential candidate of the PDP, they had to organize an emergency convention where they made a northerner the chairman of the PDP.
He continued, "I do not think that there is anything wrong if they (Governor Wike's supporters) are now demanding that Ayu should step down." We have never had a situation whereby the presidential candidate and the party's national chairman emerge from the north. Ayu may have to step down as PDP's national chairman at some point. They have a point in that aspect, but managing Wike will not be easy.
