In a publication issued by a media organisation, which was entitled: "2023 Elections: Fashola Distances Himself From The Antics Of Unsolicited Support Group," Hakeem Bello, who is the Special Advicer to the Fashola on Communications on Sunday, urged well-meaning Nigerians to disregard the invitation by some groups that are operating under the 2023 Nigerian Project, purportedly to the inauguration of a support for the Minister and the Governor of Borno State over the 2023 elections.

The reason Fashola disowned the group was because no individual or group had contacted him on behalf of the group's campaign, adding that the Individuals and group cited as promoters of the Nigerian 2023 Project were unknown to him and to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

According to a statement issued by Akpabio's Chief Press Secretary, Mr Jackson Udom on Sunday, which was entitled: "Calls For Political Office In 2023," it is noted that Mr Akpabio disowned the group because in democracy, no matter how hard one may try, he cannot suppress whatever opinion others have for him, whether about leadership or governance, stressing that he is not yet done with his national assignment of steering the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs which is his main preoccupation today and to join hands with President Muhammadu Buhari to achieve his agenda for the residents of Niger Delta particularly, and Nigeria in general.
