Jay Okocha urges Super Eagles to prioritize consistency and stability

Former Super Eagles Captain, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, has emphasized the importance of consistency and stability for the Nigerian national football team to maintain its status as Africa's number one.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during the unveiling of the African Heroes Penalty Cup in Lagos, Okocha noted that the Super Eagles have not been as impressive in recent years and have missed out on crucial competitions such as the World Cup. He called for a stronger, more cohesive team to represent the nation and acknowledged that Nigeria is a demanding nation when it comes to football.

Regarding the contract extension of Super Eagles coach Jose Pesseiro, Okocha stated that he expected the Nigeria Football Federation to make an informed decision based on the coach's performance. He also advised Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen to remain focused and take advantage of the opportunities available to him.

Okocha will participate in the upcoming Africa Heroes Penalty Cup, along with former football colleagues Daniel Amokachi and Finidi George, to represent Nigeria. The competition will feature eight African countries, including Nigeria, and will be held later in the year.
