The Nigerian Tribune reported today that former minister Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has made clarifications regarding a promise he allegedly made on returning abandoned properties of the civil war to igbos if Tonye Cole, the APC Guber candidate, emerge the next governor.

The former governor of Rivers state said, "I did not promise to return seized properties of the civil war to igbos in Rivers state." He added, "what I said during my meeting with the igbos was deliberately twisted by Governor Nyesom Wike and his agents."
Speaking further, the former Rivers state Governor said, "there was no time I ever said anything about compensation on abandoned properties. What I said was that if they get harassed or attacked, we will replace everything they lost if Tonye Cole wins the fast approaching gubernatorial election."

Lastly, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi said, "we urge the people in Rivers state to ignore and discountenance the misconstrued tirades peddled by agents of falsehood and purveyors of fake news."
