The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has become victorious in the chairmanship election of the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The main opposition party also won nine seats for councilors, with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, winning only one seat.
Dr Ibrahim DanMaraya from Kaduna State University , who was the Returning Officer, declared the result of the election. He said Honourable Ibrahim Gajere polled 14, 432 to defeat the immediate past chairman of the council and the candidate of APC, Honourable Cafra AB Caino who scored 9,095 votes.
The Returning Officer then said,"Honourable Gajere of the PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared winner of the election and returned elected.
Recall that the Local Government election had initially been scheduled to take place on September 4, 2021, but due to the insecurity bedeviling the area, it was rescheduled for Saturday, September 25, 2021.
The result for Chikun Local Government Area is yet to be announced.
