I Support Candidates Across Party Line, I Don't Belong To Any Political Party - Yakubu Dogara

In a recent appearance on Politics Today, former speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Honorable Yakubu Dogara, stated that he does not belong to any political party at the moment. He disclosed that he is supporting candidates across party lines, including those in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Dogara, who was formerly a Federal Lawmaker under the APC, left the party due to a disagreement over the Muslim Muslim ticket that produced Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima as presidential and vice presidential candidates of the party. He, alongside other aggrieved members like Babachir Lawal, supported another candidate for the presidential election, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP.

When asked if he is currently a member of the PDP or still in the APC, Dogara replied, "I support candidates across party line, I don't belong to any political party." He went on to explain that he has candidates he is supporting for various positions, including Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar who is the current APC governorship candidate in Bauchi State, as well as Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates in his constituency.

Dogara emphasized that he cannot abandon the candidates he has helped midwife into these positions for political stability, despite not belonging to any political party at the moment.
