Former Governor of Ekiti State and a key member of the ruling opposition People's Democratic Party, Peter Ayodele Fayose has today called for the immediate resignation of his party (PDP) National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu.
Recalled that there has been internal crisis in the People's Democratic Party way back before the election after former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar emerged victorious in the primary election.
His emergence as the party flag bearer demanded that Iyorchia Ayu should step down and resign from his position as the party National Chairman which was according to their initial agreement, that the party presidential candidate and the chairman cannot be from the same region.
This was mainly to give the South a sense of belonging in the party as both Atiku and Ayu hailed from the North but all effort to get things fixed up proved abortive, thereby resulted to the G-5 Governors withdrawing from campaigning for their party's candidate.
Having lost the election to the ruling party All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Peter Ayodele Fayose with a post made via his verified Twitter handle called for the immediate resignation of Iyorchia Ayu for his inability to move the party forward.
Going by this, it means the crisis in the party is still not settled as there are some aggrieved members who are not well pleased with Iyorchia Ayu retaining his position as the party National Chairman.
