The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has rubbished the claims that he went around Rivers State on Saturday to disrupt the presidential and National Assembly elections. He said that the allegations are the works of evil doers who have failed.
In a statement he released through the state Commissioner for Information, Chris Finebone, Wike said that when he managed to cast his vote on Saturday, he went straight to the house with his wife and did not step outside again throughout that day.
In the report which was made by Channels Television, he said that the accusation levelled against him are being spread by the same people who doctored some audio and video clips in 2016 during the rerun election in Rivers State to tarnish his image.
The statement read - "Governor Wike does not have a single soldier in his formal and informal entourage at any time, more so, during election time... Of particular mention is a doctored audio clip that was concocted during the 2016 rerun election in Rivers State in which they purported same to be a discussion between the Governor and Hon. Dum Dekor."
In addition to that, Wike called on members of the public to disregard the audio and video recordings which he claimed were done to discredit him and his government.
