Brighton ran out 1-0 victors in quite stunning fashion against a toothless Man United side at the Amex Stadium.
Both teams had huge first-half chances, with United probably having the better of them.
It was a different story after the break, though, as the Seagulls pressed for what would be a vital winner in their fight for European football. It appeared their search for a goal would come up empty, but in the dying seconds, a corner struck the arm of Shaw.
Marriner initially opted not to award a penalty, but a VAR review reversed that decision, and Mac Allister was the man trusted with the spot-kick. The World Cup winner finished with aplomb, blasting into the top left corner to earn his side three massive points.
That incredible win for Brighton puts them on 55 points, four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool with two games in hand over Jurgen Klopp's men. Could they be playing European football next season?
For United, they still look a safe bet to finish in the top four, four points above bitter rivals Liverpool having played a game less. The job is not done, though, and Ten Hag will want a response from his players when they travel to West Ham on Sunday.
