The Queen and Prince Andrew watched on as Princess Beatrice married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in Windsor this morning.

The couple's original plans had to be scrapped due to the coronavirus lockdown.

They said 'I Do' surrounded by their loved ones at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park, while following all Covid-19 social distancing guidelines.

One of Beatrice's friends told The Sun: "They were obviously very keen for the Queen to come so the wedding had to happen before she goes up to Balmoral so this was a great opportunity.

So many guests were disappointed not to make the big day but understood the reasoning for it.

"They are just like a normal family and had to make sacrifices like many others have up and down the country and looking forward to having a wonderful celebration when the time is right."

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the wedding took place in a statement, writing: "The private wedding ceremony of Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took place at 11am on Friday 17th July at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor."

Beatrice, who is the Queen's granddaughter, announced her engagement to millionaire property developer Edo, and old family friend, last year and the couple planned to marry in May.

At the time, a spokesperson for the couple said: “There are no plans to switch venues or hold a bigger wedding. They aren’t even thinking about their wedding at this time .

“There will come a time to rearrange but that’s not yet.”

They had already postponed the wedding twice due to the scandals surrounding Princess Beatrice's father Prince Andrew and his former friendship with convicted paedophile
