Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its activities, according to Labour Party vice presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed, are not supported by party presidential candidate Peter Obi.


This was stated by Baba-Ahmed during his appearance on Monday's episode of Daily Politics on Trust TV.


Before accepting the position of Obi's running mate, Baba-Ahmed said he conducted all the research he could and found no evidence connecting the former governor of Anambra State to IPOB.

With 22,672,373 and 18,332,191 eligible voters, respectively, the North-West and South-West geopolitical zones are dominating in voter registration, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).


According to an update posted on the INEC website, 96,303,016 persons have registered to vote when the registration process was put on hold on July 31.


The commission officially registered 84,004,084 voters in 2019. Prior to the general elections in 2023, there was an increase in registrations of 12,298,932 according to INEC data from 2022.


There are 22,672,373 eligible voters in the North-West, which consists of seven states (Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara). With a total of 18,332,191 voters, the South-West region consisting of Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti came in second.

After members of his gang ambushed a police patrol squad, a suspected IPOB member was slain at Ogbada Quarters along Illah-Akwukwu-Igbo Road in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta state.


The gunfight with the three-man IPOB gang ended with the recovery of one AK47 weapon with serial number 2534896 and six rounds of 7.62MM ammunition, according to Delta State Commissioner of Police Ari Mohammed Ali.


According to Ali, a manhunt is being conducted for the gang's evading members.


The discovered AK-47 rifle, he added, was one of two stolen by the militants who ambushed and killed three police officers assigned to the Okpanam Division in the early hours of July 24, 2022, in Oshimili North Local Government Area.

Over seven million Nigerians who pre-registered to vote online, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), did not finish the procedure in person.


This is as the CVR exercise, which was ongoing, came to a close on Sunday.


The commission started the CVR exercise in June 2021 and released a portal where Nigerians could register by entering their biodata and necessary documents; following that, they would visit INEC designated centers to finish the process physically.
