Channels Television reports that in a joking manner, the President-elect Bola Tinubu rejected Governor Wike of Rivers State's request for a return after he started building federal highways in the state.
Inaugurating the Rumuokwuta-Rumuola Flyover in Rivers State's Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Wednesday, Tinubu said he owes Wike nothing. Wike was instructed by the incoming president to get a refund.
I owe you nothing with regard to the 12th flyover and your request for a reimbursement. It is your road," Tinubu declared to the cheers of the audience.
"You cannot demand while in a chokehold. On this street, you are the only resident. I appreciate your effort. You must bribe me to let you get it.
"We have Nigeria to look forward to as you make people happy, bring excitement and growth throughout this state. Not anticipated debt, but that is what you and I need to talk about.
Wike stated that the federal government should complete the projects the state is working on.
He explained how the state had to change its procurement regulations in order to raise money and swiftly complete the numerous flyover projects it had started.
Sadly, Wike added, "These projects should be Federal Government projects since they are Federal Roads.
