Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, alerted the public yesterday to an alleged attempt by one Lloyd Ukwu, a Nigerian living in the United States who claimed to be the executive director of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), to discredit him by alleging that the elections on February 25, 2023, were rigged.
According to a statement from his special adviser on media communications, Dele Alake, the president-elect has accused Ukwu of being a secret agent hired by Peter Obi, the Labor Party's (LP) presidential candidate, to undermine the mandate freely given to him by the Nigerian people.
According to him: "Our attention has been drawn to an attempt by Peter Obi to hire one Lloyd Ukwu, a Nigerian living in the United States and claiming to be the Executive Director of the National Democratic Coalition, to organize a press conference specifically intended to disparage and cast aspersions on the outcome of the 2023 presidential election freely and fairly won by the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Furthermore, Tinubu emphasized that there was nothing Ukwu and his ilk could do to alter the fact that the majority of Nigerians had made it clear that they wanted him to lead the country beginning on May 29, 2023.
