Peter Obi's primary attorney, Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, has explained what will occur if the Independent Nigerian Electoral Commission, INEC, is permitted to request that the BIVAS be modified.
It should be recalled that, before the Saturday governorship election, the electoral body stormed the court and demanded that the BIVAS be changed.
In a conversation with a journalist on Tuesday, Ikpeazu explained that the reconfiguration process means that the electoral authority needs the authorization to remove all presidential details from the computer.
According to him, if the request is granted, the accreditation—the key piece of evidence—will be lost, endangering the petition.
He said. "The BIVAS machine, which is the other application and is of the utmost importance, is being modified by the INEC. By doing this, they are expressing their desire to remove the accreditation data that was gathered during the presidential election. That is noteworthy since it is the strongest evidence we have. If that request is approved, every one of our applications will be in jeopardy."
