Internet fraud is becoming very rampant in Nigeria, many people are into it, mostly young guys, they work by defrauding people of their money using false pretenses and promises, they usually do this by setting up fake platforms and websites where they promise people more money on their investments, they also set up fake social media accounts and find easy targets who will fall prey to their scams. Recently a news surfaced online stating that a female Internet fraud suspect was arrested in Delta State.
The suspect goes by the name of Queen Jonathan, she is a 24 years old who is allegedly involved in a Bitcoin Scam, during her interrogation it was revealed that she presented herself Sophia Rodriguez, an expert in Bitcoin in order to defraud unsuspecting people off their money, the items that were recovered from her include an Infinix Hot 8 mobile phone, she has given her statement which would be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is completed.
After this news was shared online, people had mixed responses to it, some people professed admiration for her and said that she's really a queen, while others thought that she should be forgiven because there have been bigger cases of fraud in Nigeria and the people behind them are still walking about free and she was only caught with an Infinix phone, they say that the poor girl is just trying to survive and that she wouldn't have done what she did if there were job opportunities in Nigeria. Check out some of the reactions.
What she did was no doubt illegal, she needs to be reprimanded for it, but the state of things in the country is forcing people to do anything they can to survive, I believe that more and more people will be going into such criminal activities if the state of things in Nigeria does not improve.
