Many hours ago, Femi Gbajabiamila shared photos of himself while in a class in Harvard university on his verified Facebook page. These photos stirred mixed reactions from Nigerians who came across them. Hours after the mixed reactions on the photos, the honorable speaker of the House of Representatives; Femi Gbajabiamila, tendered an apology.
Honorable Femi Gbajabiamila said, "I apologize for the post at this time, and I hope you will understand that it was not my intention to cause disaffection." He continued by saying that when he posted a picture of himself at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University (undergoing a course), he did it with a clear conscience.
He explained that he understands that many public universities are currently closed across the country owing to the unresolved issues between the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government of Nigeria.
He further said that the people of his constituency know that he really cares about education. He made mention of quite a good number of projects he has carried out in his constituency which are based on education mainly.
Speaking on what he has done about the looming ASUU strike, Femi Gbajabiamila said, "I made interventions to avert the ongoing strike, I had direct engagements with the leadership of ASUU and the House of Representatives is still, with keen interest, involved in seeking a resolution to the issues."
Lastly, the Honorable Speaker promised Nigerians that he would continue to work within the remit of the legislature to provide a quality access to education for Nigeria's young people.
