The National Association of Nigerian Students has expressed faith in Asiwaju Bola Tinubu's ability to advance the nation's educational system and also commended the president for giving space for a credible elections.
After receiving 8,794,726 votes, Tinubu was declared the winner on Wednesday and given his Certificate of Return. The Peoples Democratic Party's Atiku Abubakar received 6,984,520 votes. In the presidential election on Saturday, Kwankwaso received 1,496,687 votes while Obi received 6,101,533.
Giwa Temitope, the National Public Relations Officer for NANS, signed a statement on Wednesday that was made available to The PUNCH and expressed the organization's trust in Tinubu's ability to turn around the education industry and increase access to and affordability of higher education.
The organization also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission for how the just finished presidential election was handled.
”It is also instructive that we commend President Muhammadu Buhari for giving space for a credible electoral process without undue interference. The resolve of the President not to interfere in the activities of INEC has once again strengthened free choice which is one of the major components of democracy. As a country that practices constitutional democracy, the President has set a nice precedent in further givingindependence to the electoral umpire.”
