Due to inadequate support and social security from the Church, many indigenous Sandals who denounced their traditional religion to embrace Christianity few years back have gone back to their nature-worshipping Sarna religion.
According to UCA news, Santal leaders made it known that some of them became Christians out of greed as they were tempted by promises of education for children and good jobs and they returned back when their desires were not accomplished.
On facebook, a photo of the reconversion ceremony was posted and caused serious debate among Santal's Christians and non-Christians, they were all wondering over why Santals converted back to their ancestral creed.
A Catholic priest told UCA news that allegations of lack of support from the Church is not true. He said social pressure from the community was the main reason for reconversion of ethnic Christians.
