Following the claim that the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, spends 50 million Naira on alcohol every week, Bwala Daniel, the official spokesman of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign council, urged the residents of the state to cast their ballots wisely in a tweet on Wednesday.
Recall that Rotimi Amaechi, Wike's predecessor, had made similar accusation after Wike labeled him a "child" for saying that Igbo people had abandoned their properties in Rivers State during the Biafran War. Amaechi characterized Gov. Wike's concerns as the babbling of a man who spends 50 million Naira a week on alcohol in his response to those concerns. The APC candidate for governor, Amaechi said, has not promised to give the abandoned properties to Igbo people.
On social media, Nigerians' responses to Bwala's remarks on the development on Wednesday were conflicted. the spokesperson stated,
Voting for Chibuike Amaechi's candidate will mean perpetuating Gov. Wike's lifestyle, and thus, the impending doom for River State, if what he is claimed to have said about him drinking alcohol worth N50 million per week is accurate. Vote wisely, Rivers.
