Gunmen on Wednesday invaded the National Youth Service Scheme Corpers’ lodge located along Udo Ekong Ekwere street, off Information Drive in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State and raped its female occupants.
According to reports from Punch Newspapers, the gunmen stormed the area around 1 p.m. and carted away valuables such as phones, gadgets, and laptop computers.
One of the eye witnesses who spoke with the Punch said the gunmen gained entrance into her room through the back door and all her efforts to resist them were in vain.

She said they made off with her valuables and threatened to hit her.
She said most of the women in the lodge used to sleep naked at night and the attack caught them unprepared as several women were raped by the gunmen.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, said he does not have enough information about the situation and will get back to the public as soon as possible.
