On Thursday, former Ekiti state governor Ayodele Fayose joined the campaign of Lagos state governor Babajide Sanworu, garnering support from Lagos residents hours before gubernatorial elections on Saturday, March 18.
Sanwo-Olu was on a last-minute campaign trip to parts of Lagos today. The All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate was at the airport this morning with the Rental Car Association.
During an election rally, Sanwo-Olu promised local residents that if he was re-elected for his second term, he would rise to their challenge. Fayose spoke to the people, pleading with them to wait patiently as Sanwo Oru fulfilled his promise to them. The former governor of Ekiti was also heard in a video clip obtained by Naija News telling members of the car rental association at Lagos airport that Lagos is a Yoruba country and urging them to vote again for Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu will score points with his biggest rival this weekend. Voters of the Labor Party (LP) of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) of Abdulazeez Adediran already split on March 18. Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had scheduled gubernatorial and state legislative elections for Saturday, March 18, 2023, two weeks after his presidential and parliamentary elections.
