The majority leader, deputy majority leader, majority or chief whip, the deputy whip, minority leader, deputy minority leader, minority whip, and deputy minority whip are the other top positions in the National Assembly in addition to the presidency. According to parliamentary tradition, only ranking members who have served two or more terms will serve as the leadership of the parliament.

According to reports, renowned people like Ali Ndume from Borno State, Akpabio from Akwa Ibom State, Orji Uzoh Kalu from Abia State, Jibrin Barau from Kano State, and Mohammed Sani Musa from Niger State have expressed interest in leading the 10th Senate.

When speaking to a Punch journalist about it, Senator Ali Ndume, who ran against Danjuma Goje and Ahmad Lawan for the 9th Senate presidency, verified the news.

Senator Ali Ndume said: "Akpabio, Orji Kalu told me they have interest in Senate Presidency, but I also have interest in the position. Also, Jibrin Barau and Mohammed Sani Musa (first-timer from Niger) have contacted me on the post. I am reliably informed that Abdulaziz Yari, who is also a first-timer from Zamfara State, is also interested but, he has not contacted me.

"But they should know that I am also in the race. So, place preference on me in your report".
