Wike Gifts $20,000 To Each Rivers United Player, Trip To Madrid And Governor's Medal

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has gifted a cash reward of $20,000 to each player of the Rivers State United Football Club for winning this year's Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) title.

All the Rivers State United Football Club players and officials were treated for a reception on Thursday, 21st July 2022, at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, following their impressive effort this season which made them remain at the top of the league this season with a record 77 points from 38 games.

Governor Nyesom Wike officially received the trophy from the club, said the players and the club officials will be decorated with the prestigious Governor's Medal Service Award for their feat, adding that he will sponsor their two-week all-expense trip to Madrid, Spain to prepare for the forthcoming Confederation of African Football (CAF) Championship.

Governor Nyesom Wike also disclosed plan to reward each Rivers State player with $40,000 (N16million) if they go past the group stages of the CAF Champions League.
