Court grants Tinubu Access To Inspect Election Materials Over Obi

The Appeal Court in Abuja has granted the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, access to inspect electoral materials used by the Independent National Electoral Commission during February 25, 2022, general elections.
It is being reported that Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, on Tuesday, urged the Court of Appeal in Abuja to order INEC to grant him access to sensitive materials it used for the presidential election.
Tinubu, through his lawyer, Mr Akintola Makinde, said he would need to inspect, scan and make photocopies of some of the electoral materials to enable him to prepare his defense.
While Tinubu’s first ex-parte application, which was filed on March 6, has the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi as respondents, in the second application, the Peoples Democratic Party, and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, were cited as respondents, alongside INEC.
But delivering judgment on Wednesday, a three-member panel of the court, in four rulings on Wednesday granted the reliefs sought by Tinubu and APC in the fourth motion ex-parte, except prayers 5 and 6 in the motion filed by Tinubu.

Terrorists Kill Pregnant Woman, Four Others, Abduct 50

Terrorists have killed five people, including a heavily pregnant woman in Agwa community in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
The terrorists who attacked the community on Tuesday afternoon came in and started shooting sporadically and killing their victims in the process.
An eyewitness, Mallam Audu, who spoke with our correspondent, said the terrorists were carrying out the attack when a military team on patrol engaged them in a gun battle.
He said more than 50 people were abducted while many villagers were injured as they scampered to safety.
However, the Niger State Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar, when contacted, confirmed the incident but said the actual number of victims had yet to be ascertained.
Gunmen Raze Imo Assembly Candidate’s Country Home

The country home of Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Imo State House of Assembly, Ifeanyi Ozoemena, has been razed by gunmen.
The candidate who confirmed the arson to our correspondent said that his house and that of his father in Okigwe Local Government Area of the state were razed by the gunmen.
Our correspondent gathered on arrival, the attackers threw explosives at the houses and the property caught fire immediately.
Okigwe LGA had witnessed a high level of insecurity and criminal activities since 2022, a development that had forced indigenes to flee their homes.
INEC Presents Certificates Of Return To Reps Members-Elect

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday issued Certificates of Return to winners of the February 25, 2023 House of Representatives election in Nigeria.
The INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, presented the certificates to the members-elect at the National Collation Centre in Abuja.
Yakubu had on Saturday said winners were declared for 423 legislative seats, indicating that supplementary elections would be conducted in 46 other constituencies.
He said in the House of Representatives, 325 out of 360 seats have been won by eight political parties.
In terms of party representation, the INEC boss said African Democratic Party, won two; APC, 162; APGA, 4; LP, 34; NNPP, 18; PDP, 102; SDP, two and YPP, one.
