Femi Adesina: Some Persons Plotting To Overthrow Buhari

Mr Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has alleged that some disgruntled religious and past political leaders were pursuing moves to “compel a forceful and undemocratic change of leadership” in the country.

In a statement, Adesina said the plotters are now recruiting leaders of some ethnic groups and politicians, with the intention of convening some sort of conference, where a vote of no confidence would be passed on President Muhammadu Buhari, thereby causing crisis in the country.

Adesina, who described such move as “illegal” and “treasonable”, said the Buhari administration would keep Nigeria together no matter whose ox was gored.

He said “the agent provocateurs hope to achieve through artifice and sleight of hands, what they failed to do through the ballot box in the 2019 elections”, warning that such plan would attract necessary consequences.

Soldiers take over Ondo community

Soldiers have taken over the Ikare Akoko community in Ondo State over a leadership crisis that led to the destruction of cars and houses.

The recent crisis that began on Monday was the outcome of the cold war between two monarchs in the community, the Olukare and the Owa Ale.

Olukare of Ikare, Oba Oba Akadiri Saliu Momoh, had in January dethroned Chief Idowu Ogunye as Olokoja of Okoja, and appointed one Chief Sunday Bada as the new Olokoja.

Oba Momoh had cited absenteeism from meetings, disloyalty and refusal to obey his directives as reasons for dethroning Chief Ogunye.
