Obi, who appeared on Channeles TV’s Politics Today on Monday, was replying to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar’s claim that his (Obi’s) popularity is only on social media.
In an interview with Arise TV on Friday, Atiku claimed that Obi's bid for the presidency was a sham because 90% of people in the North do not use social media.
Upon being questioned about Atiku's assertion, Obi responded, "I agree with him; what he is saying is that one of the problems we're going to solve after my miraculous emergence (as president) to deal with the issue of educating the 90% that are not on social media.
He said, "The challenge is actually the teeming population we need; I need to be able to turn that asset into output. I'm going to invest in education; we need to educate them; we need to make sure that we equip them.
This demographic is what I mean when I say that the north is our next oil. They are the resource I need to build the factories, some of which will be in Kaduna and Kano where they can grow those agricultural products and prepare them for export. Yes, we'll handle it, but rest assured that we're not simply on social media. People are paying attention to us as well since they recognise our value. And I have no doubt that's his goal as well. According to daily trust.
