INEC Sacks Sokoto REC Ahead March 11 Polls

Four days to the Governorship and House of Assembly elections slated for next Saturday, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has directed the Resident Electoral Commission (REC) in charge of Sokoto State, Dr Nura Ali, to stay away from the commission.

Consequently, he been replaced with the Administrative Secretary of the Commission in the State, Hauwa Aliyu Kangiwa, with immediate effect.

Top leaders of the State of Kuwait have joined the list of countries which have sent congratulatory messages to Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following his declaration as the winner of the February 25 presidential election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The highest Kuwaiti leadership of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the prime minister sent the congratulatory message to Tinubu.


Police Arraign POS Operator For Alleged N891, 000 Fraud

A 33-year-old Point of Sale operator, Ayoola Seun, was on Tuesday arraigned by the police before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State for allegedly defrauding a company of N891,000.

The prosecutor, Inspector E.O Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on October 20, 2022 around 10:00 a.m.


APC Kicks As INEC Declares ADC Candidate Winner

The Campaign Council of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency has rejected the declaration of the candidate of the ADC, Arc Salman Idris, as the winner of the 25th February House of Representatives election for the Constituency.

The Collation Officer, Dr Adams Baba who had declared the election inconclusive on Sunday, 26th February in Kabba made a U-turn yesterday, Me bday March 6 and announced the ADC candidate as the winner.


INEC Removes Doguwa's Name From Reps-Elect List

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed the name of the embattled leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, from the list of election winners.

This comes after the electoral body declared him as the winner of the February 25 election in the Doguwa/Tudunwada constituency.

According to the returning officer, Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, Doguwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 39,732 votes to defeat his closest rival, Yushau Salisu Abdullahi of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) who polled 34,798 votes.


LP Adopt Rivers PDP Gov Candidate, Fubara

PORT HARCOURT: Labour Party in Rivers State has adopted the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Sir Siminialaye Fubara, ahead of the Saturday’s gubernatorial election.

This was as the party has abandoned its standard bearer, Mrs. Beatrice Itubo.

The Rivers State Chairman of the party, Dienye Pepple, disclosed this position in Port Harcourt today in a communique arising from the executive meeting of the party.
