President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) to the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Tinubu received this prestigious honor, which is the highest national recognition in Nigeria reserved for Presidents, at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja on Thursday, as part of the events leading up to the May 29th inauguration. Consequently, Tinubu will now be known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR). Additionally, the Vice Presidential-elect, Kashim Shettima, was bestowed with the Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON).
According to a report by Channels Television, Buhari also formally handed over Transition Documents to the incoming administration. This process is considered by some to be the most organized Presidential Transition in Nigeria's history, made possible by the implementation of Executive Order 14 signed by President Buhari.
A few days ago, the Chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, Boss Mustapha, announced that Tinubu's swearing-in and inauguration would occur at Eagle Square at 10.00 am on May 29th. It was assured that comprehensive arrangements have been made to ensure the safety and security of all attendees.
As the pieces fall into place, everything appears to be on track for Tinubu's assumption of the presidency on May 29th.
The conferment of National Honors upon Tinubu and Shettima has generated a variety of reactions from the public. Some individuals express their hopes that Tinubu's administration will mark a positive turning point for Nigeria.
