Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has said that the new naira policy is impending state governors’ performance across the country.
The governor Bello stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
He is among the state governors who dragged the federal government to Supreme Court over the policy.
Delivering its final judgment on the case on Thursday, the Supreme Court ordered the circulation of the old naira notes alongside the new ones until December 31.
Others believed that we went to court because of the recently held presidential and National Assembly elections, according to Bello. We are aware that the policy has an impact on ordinary Nigerians. Several people have died as a result of this strategy, either as a result of riots or uprisings or because they visited hospitals but were unable to afford medicine.
"There are also people who have passed away from starvation. Millions of Nigerians rely on the money they are able to make each day. Take a look at how the economy is suffering. For those of us who secure out-of-state contracts, it hinders our performance.
