Governor Hope Uzodinma Reacts To The Exclusion Of Igbos In Bola Tinubu's 14-Man Transition Committee

The President-elect's transition team, consisting of 14 members, recently established a committee in coordination with the APC. However, this decision has sparked controversy due to the absence of South Easterners from the list. Some individuals feel that the President-elect has not adequately shown support for the region, leading to frustration and anger among them.

In response to the exclusion, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, has come forward to defend the party's choice and the incoming president. According to him, the decision was made by the party based on careful calculations and should not be seen as exceptional. He believes that many people have misunderstood the situation and wrongly interpreted it as an indication that the Igbos will be marginalized in the upcoming government. Sen. Hope Uzodinma argues that party members should remain loyal and abide by the decisions made by the party.

On the other hand, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State holds a different viewpoint. He believes that the APC leadership should have included at least one Igbo representative on the transition committee to ensure justice and fairness. Governor Umahi disagrees with Governor Hope Uzodinma, suggesting that the exclusion is not in line with the principles of fairness that should guide the party's decisions. He emphasizes the importance of inclusivity and representation for all regions.

Sen. Hope Uzodinma, however, maintains that the selection process for the transition committee was conducted within the party's established rules. In a democracy, every political party must adhere to certain guidelines, and the APC is no exception. While disagreements may arise, the party has mechanisms in place to resolve conflicts and address diverse political viewpoints. Sen. Hope Uzodinma urges people not to exaggerate the situation, as the selection of the transition committee follows the ordinary procedures.

In conclusion, according to Sen. Hope Uzodinma, every committed member of the party is expected to support its decisions once they are made. He highlights the importance of upholding party rules and unity, even when individual opinions may differ. Meanwhile, Governor Dave Umahi emphasizes the need for inclusivity and fairness, suggesting that the APC leadership should have considered an Igbo representative for the transition committee. The controversy surrounding the committee's composition continues to generate discussions within the party and among the public.
