Comrade Julious Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party, has urged party members and supporters to cast their ballots for just those candidates running on the party's platform on Saturday in the governorship and state assembly elections. In a statement that he released on Tuesday in Abuja, Abure made the call.
He explained that as election preparations enter their last phases this Saturday, the Labour Party is taking no chances in ensuring that its candidates not only participate in the election, but also succeed.
The party chairman stated, "Reports from some political opportunists from other political platforms, stating that they have formed an agreement with Obidients and LP followers to cast their ballots for them in this Saturday's elections, make this call imperative.
"We want to say definitely and unambiguously that no chapter of the party has received any orders from the LP national headquarters to coordinate with or assist any other candidates in this Saturday's elections except LP candidates. "Our members should participate in the voting process and see it through to its legal conclusion.
"We call on the millions of voters who support LP presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi and the party's worldview to cast their votes for all LP candidates nationwide without being discouraged. "Before to this Saturday's elections, the LP is not allied with any political party."
