The presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, has said that it was President Muhammadu Buhari that allowed the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to win the February 25th presidential election. Speaking during an interview with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), and also carried by Sahara Reporters, Shehu said that President Buhari allowed Tinubu to win the election in a free and fair process, and that Tinubu never gets tired of appreciating Buhari for allowing him to win.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity said that was the reason when Tinubu received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), he immediately flew to Daura, in Katsina State, to show it to President Buhari.
He said - "The incoming President Bola Tinubu never gets tired of saying that the President allowed him to win. It is very significant. He allowed him to win in a free and fair process."
Speaking about what Nigerians should expect from the incoming Tinubu administration, Garba Shehu said that the outgoing and incoming governments are going to be the same, though they are different administrations. He said that it is because the incoming government will be run by the same ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said - "What to expect between the incoming and outgoing as of today, it's even a more perfect relationship. It is going to be the same government, different administrations. It's APC."
Tinubu was announced as the President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He is expected to be sworn into office on May 29th. On Thursday May 25th, Tinubu was conferred with the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), which is the highest National Honour in the country.
