For 21 years, Lionel Messi broke many records while on the books at Barcelona and could have continued to do a lot more had financial obstacles not forced his move to Paris Saint Germain last summer. One of the many records he broke at Camp Nou was surpassing César Rodríguez to become the club's all time top scorer with 672 goals prior to his exit.
However, everyone is well aware of the Argentine's prolificity in front of goal, but considering his rather slow start in Paris, one cannot help but ask, will he be able to score enough goals to become the club's all time top scorer?.
Statistically, PSG's all time top scorer happens to be veteran Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani who bagged two hundred (200) goals during his seven year spell at the club. With just one goal scored so far for PSG, Messi will need 199 strikes to equal Edinson Cavani and 200 more if he desires to go ahead of the Manchester United player.Moreso, putting his age into consideration and the number of years he may likely play for the club, can the Argentine attain such feat for the French giants?. Take nothing away from Messi's abilities, but some records might just be impossible to achieve even for a player his calibre and with the way he has started his spell at PSG, surpassing El matador at top spot might be a mountain too high for him to climb.
Do you think Messi can become PSG's all time top scorer?
