Real Madrid might not be in the race for the Spanish La Liga this season but, the Los Blancos still has the UEFA Champions League under lock and key. It was an exhilarating encounter between Real Madrid and Liverpool at Anfield Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The two clubs were set up in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League of this season in a match that's supposed to be a revenge for Liverpool after Real Madrid snatched the UCL trophy from them last season in Paris.
Liverpool had initially took the lead against Real Madrid on Tuesday from goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah but the Reds later turned from predator to prey as Real Madrid hunted them down in front of their homes fans and battered them.
Vinicius Jr scored a brace, Eder Militao scored a goal before Karim Benzema sunk the Reds with his second half brace. It was a shocking result for Liverpool as Real Madrid handed them their most humiliating defeat in the UEFA Champions League history.
Real Madrid was able to dominate Liverpool at Anfield Stadium earlier this week but Barcelona couldn't do that when they came to Anfield Stadium in 2019.
Barcelona came to Anfield Stadium in May 2019 with a three-goal lead for the second leg of the UCL Semifinals but, Liverpool scored 4 goals to stun Barcelona and eliminate the Catalans that year.
