Yakubu acknowledged the glitches that occurred during the last elections and stated that the BVAS machines are currently being worked on to avoid a repeat of such issues.
Although the media was not privy to the meeting's agenda, journalists were invited to cover the opening. The meeting comes a week after the presidential and National Assembly elections and a week before the governorship and state assembly elections. Yakubu welcomed the RECs and noted that the meeting is to evaluate the previous week's performances, emphasizing the need to learn from last week's elections, especially in the area of logistics management.
The INEC Chairman urged the RECs to work harder to ensure that the upcoming governorship elections do not experience the same glitches recorded in the previous elections, while calling for the disciplining of staff who err.
