According to news that was posted online by the Daily Trust Newspaper, there is rumor that there was an underground jockeying for control of the federal assembly prior to the June inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.
It was revealed that the 9th National Assembly, which is presently in session, would adjourn and the 10th National Assembly would begin in June 2023.
In addition to giving more details on this development, a source who spoke with a Daily Trust Newspaper reporter also revealed that many newly elected Senators have started making plans to run for Senate President when the 10th Senate is sworn in in June.
He said: "Due to his shared zone of origin with Shettima, Ahmad Lawan is ineligible to serve as Senate President once more. Being from the North-East geopolitical zone, his chances of being elected to the next House are very slim."
