Opinion: Salle should be groomed in her original music genre, and not to follow trend.

The story of a 17-year-old girl called Salle has been on the internet lately. It was reported through a video where Salle was captured singing with an amazing voice while she was hawking.

Through the power of social media, the video went viral and many people loved her talent and appreciated by massively sharing the video online. Not long after the video went viral, it was reported that an international music star, Rihanna called her to appreciate her talent.

Days after, she was brought to the city of Lagos where she has been transformed from her look to having her music recorded. This is a great opportunity that this young girl has found, but it is not out of place to suggest to the music industry, how best to support her career part.

With the kind of music popular in the Nigerian entertainment industry, it is obvious that Salle's kind of music is different. Different in the sense that she sings R&B while the dominating music type is Nigeria is hip hop.

Therefore, haven seen the zeal and passion with which Salle sings, it is important to point out to the music industry one important thing to do for her as a young artist. That is to groom her properly in her kind of music and not grooming her to switch music type.

This is one of the challenges many young artists encounter when they find themselves in the music industry newly. For the sake of fame, and money, some of these young artists are lured into switching from their passionate choice of music to what others think is a trend.

Music is art in progress. This means it comes from within. Therefore, when the artist deviates from the originality of this art, there is always a great struggle to fit in to a different thing. A lot of young Nigerian artists have produced many of such music (R&B) but the industry mainly, doesn't move such music as fast as hip hop.

Every genre of music has its own audience, and the love of each genre is created by the artist. So, I suggest that young music artists be guided in believing that any genre of music they are gifted, is unique, and can make them stars in the industry.

However, I appeal that the resourceful people in the music industry guide this young lady and groom her according to her passion, not just people's demand.
